Led by the New Mexico Startup Alliance in partnership with The Fourth Effect, Board Builder Bootcamp combines board education, practical tools, and structured advisor matching so founders can build and activate boards that actually move the business.
The program serves startups in advanced energy, bioscience, aerospace, and advanced computing, while developing a pipeline of board-ready New Mexico executives and connecting founders to national advisor and investor networks.

Each stage builds on the last. Founders move from an honest assessment of where their board stands to a matched, active advisory board they can put to work.
Onboarding and board readiness assessment
Selected startups and executives complete structured onboarding with appointed Board Members in Residence to establish a baseline and identify advisory gaps. Every company starts the program with a clear picture of what its board needs, where it is going, and how ready it actually is.
Board Builder Bootcamp training
Participants complete bespoke BBB training focused on advisory board strategy and advisor engagement. Founders leave with practical tools to build boards that support growth and strengthen commercialization.
Scaling smart with advisory boards
Founders turn board education into action. Board Members in Residence work directly with startups to identify advisory needs, structure effective board relationships, and prepare boards to help the company fundraise and grow.
Tailored advisor matching and engagement
The Fourth Effect platform connects startups with a national network of vetted advisors and executives. Tailored matching and a date-before-you-commit model let founders test advisor fit before formalizing anything.
Ongoing support
Founders receive continuing support from local New Mexico Board Members in Residence, plus access to NMSA advisory resources, peer learning, and targeted technical assistance to help them reach board and growth milestones.
